Small Business Line Of Credit Marketplace

Industry Overview

The Financial Services industry continues to experience a considerable degree of strain, with non-directional markets rendering trading profits difficult.  TARP distribution, general downsizing, and asset divestiture for some have led to a degree of stabilization.  Automotive, Retail, and numerous other industries are making their bid for a piece of the government bailout pie.

Losses, consisting mainly of sub-prime mortgage backed securities, will total $1 trillion+.  Credit default swaps are described as a major factor leading  to Financial Industry woes, although prices are beginning to firm up as of early 1Q, 2009.  Real estate markets have shown minimal evidence of recovery.  Property prices continue to decline while foreclosure rates increase, despite government and mortgage company efforts to slow the process.

As the financial industry exercises their considerable reach, capital influx will serve to stabilize views of corporate values, as distressed securities funds carefully evaluate their timelines and directional market outlook.  Government supported programs to help those unable to pay their mortgages have been synthesized with short-term response timelines, and various default criteria.  Some homeowners are defaulting on their payments with the hope of qualifying for the favorable workout terms.
